Guide

Use PiBye with your AI of choice

Share approved copies with your chosen AI, or connect Claude Desktop or the ChatGPT desktop app locally. The connection runs on your Mac and nothing is sent to a PiBye server.

Choose your assistant and Documents

After review, choose Add Markdown to Documents. Open the working copy and use Copy Markdown to paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or another AI. Ask it to preserve stand-ins exactly. To bring back its response, choose Paste AI reply on the same working copy. For the optional local connection, open Settings, choose Claude Desktop or the ChatGPT desktop app, and follow the three-step checklist. Claude Desktop: PiBye adds its own entry to Claude’s configuration after you confirm. ChatGPT desktop app (PiBye 0.4.3 and later): copy the setup, then in ChatGPT choose Settings, MCP servers, Add server, pick STDIO and paste it; PiBye does not change ChatGPT’s settings for you. Then restart the app, allow selected Documents in PiBye, and verify PiBye’s tools in a new chat. ChatGPT on the web cannot use a local server.

What stays local

PiBye's connector runs locally with no cloud relay. It exposes only selected approved Markdown and generated replies, never private Vault originals, restored files or mappings. Review generated work in Documents before using Move to Vault to restore the original values locally. Your chosen AI provider may process shared Markdown remotely. Keep PiBye open and unlocked while the assistant works: locking PiBye disconnects it, and access expires within 60 seconds if PiBye closes. Disconnect in Settings to revoke connector access; already shared content cannot be recalled.
